The Vicious Loud Dog
The Vicious Loud Dog
Out back they loosely kept
A very "vicious and loud dog"
And when I slept
It howled until I woke
Soon I found it calmed down
whenever I loudly spoke
Seems it just liked hearing my voice
not that I had any real choice
For speak clear and calmly I must
to gain it's silent trust
As the months flew by ever so fast
like a ship sailing full mast
I found that dog waking me nightly
To be a very sweet touch lightly
on my lonely 'ole soul
So much so that this I now know
the dog and I did nightly grow
Like the color to the snow
I dearly miss his nightly call
his masters moved late last fall
As winter sets me to shiver and chill
I faithfully vow that I soon will
Find myself my very own "viciously loud dog"!!! Robert L.
