The Veranda

Steel gray clouds coat the early morn's sky Smoke like puffs float close by Still~the oak leaves hang without breeze Stagnant the air lies Heavy rain soaked clouds biding time Waiting to release tears Earth awaits dried now from springs once Steady flow, damp in arrears A rainy Friday opens doors To curl with a good book Captivated by love's story Give a romantic movie a look A golden sun tries to peak through Clouds so cold and steel gray Gaining progress each slow second As wispy clouds float away Behind a sky blue sky awaits Eager to kiss the sun The birds delighted sing a tune Each note the last outdone Suddenly the sun seems to fade Its rays covered again What will come today who knows Life can quickly change plans A brief reprieve from glowing warmth A gentle breeze soon stirs Quiet pierces the air, birds' songs Settles down, raindrops occur May 15, 2015 Out On The Porch

Sara, your poetry's imagery is so strong and powerful, I cannot help but wish that one day, mine will be like it. This is a fine example of what I said. I can feel the wind, the quiet before the rain...the throbbing moment when you were at the veranda. I see you clearly in my mind, looking at nature's beauty. Such flowing piece deserves a 7. Kim

how nice this is. It is kind of how Utah was today, Sara. I especially like the stanza where blue sky was almost ready to kiss the sun. And the mention of romantic books or movies. What better way to pass a rainy day!!
