The Unpaved Road
The Unpaved Road
By Kevin Robey

(Verse 1)
This is the path that I choose
Holed out shoes and tattooed rooms
Decaying teeth out of favors to use
Jagged runes are buried in tombs
Falling tears turning into dust
Blades seem so dull right now
Sacrifice in blind faith I trust
Finding life within this spooky town
The wreckage strewn across the floor
I found my heart under the floor boards
I’m walking now straight out the door
Leaving all the lessons I’ll can’t afford
Chorus
This is the life, this is the dream
But now I’m bursting at the seams
I’ll beg for change while I decide
To Leave my dreams or swallow my pride
(Verse 2)
Can’t consider these intentions pure
A burning desire to simply want more
Just buying time to search for a cure
Fighting demons that I’ve met before
Spinning my wheels, what can I show?
Paper and plaques hang on the walls
Leading to places I passed long ago
But don’t count me out, this isn’t a fall
No this is the middle, the montage scene
I can’t fast forward when I think of the past
Presently I see my soul is finally clean
Stay in the moment, however long it lasts
(Chorus)
This is the life, this is the dream
But now I’m bursting at the seams
I’ll beg for change while I decide
To Leave my dreams or swallow my pride
