The Unforgiven

The desperate lies you have told As time has gone on You are looking old, You will always be looking over your shoulder Never knowing when or where for the time will come for it to get colder, The deep dark place you will find your soul in The chill will cut to the bone as you sit there and think of every past sin, You will wonder how in Gods name did I get here The prayers you say will not be answered due to all you fear, It's too late to go back and apologize As you try to look up you won't see with your eyes, The pain that you have caused others Is now in your face and it's one way or another, This hole you are in seems to be getting colder It's been many years now and you have grown older, You have come to accept the reality of all your sins But, you will never get out even if you were thin, The victory you thought you felt Now doesn't seem as good after the cards you have been dealt, The space around you has gotten much smaller As you feel the space you are in thank goodness you were not taller, It keeps getting colder as you try to claw yourself out And now you try and wonder what's it all about, The fact is your body is six feet under As deep as you are you won't even hear the thunder, Your senses are fading and have been all along If you only could have seen back then what you did wrong.
