The Unfinished Portrait
It seemed everything were on the canvas
The cow boy looking man just couldn't paint it all on the portrait
I saw litters of colour on the wooden stand
All coming together in harmony
Each one making the man on the canvas a beauty to behold
The man in the portrait... The man from my past
Cowboy looking man painted the fine arc of perfectly shaped brow
Crystal white eyes and the oval shaped face
Glorified with a smile as enticing as freshly baked cookies
But, cowboy couldn't paint it all
He couldn't paint the brows that join in fury
Each time he lashed out at my mum and I with his mouth
He couldn't paint the strong lines that rise from his face
Each time that mouth invokes in us words of disdain
You see, he is the only inheritance my dad left us
The uncle from a distant past
The man from my past...
Beauty in portrait... Beast in person
