Ultimate Sacrifice
It was the saddest day of my life
As we laid him down to rest
It was small consolation
That he rated among the best
If he could talk he would tell you
My name is on the wall
If you were to ask what I gave
I would say to you…I gave it all
The honor guard stood at attention
And saluted as the flag moved by
Draped across his coffin
Of this comrade that has died
Twenty one times the guns were fired
As the flag flew at half mast
All to mark the respect we have
For a comrade who has breathed his last
And for the final last good bye
The sound of taps filled the air
Causing an eerie chill in the soul
And tears that hadn’t been there
So let us endeavor to never forget
The ultimate price we’ve paid
For our independence and freedom
That for us this comrade made
