The Turtle Race
The Turtle Race
Two turtles began a long race
With everything in them
They each had high stakes placed against them
One turtle named Pete called out to the other at the starting line
“I wish you my heartfelt luck!”
“I hope you can finish in record time!”
The other turtle looked over with a surprised look on his face
He wondered how the other turtle
Would want him to win the race in record speed
His name was Joe and he had never won
A single race in his entire racing career
But this race was much different
Before he left the locker room
He bowed down to God on his turtle knees
And said the following prayer…
“It’s me again!
Remember me, God?
I’m old slow poke Joe
I just want to know that you hear my prayers
Way up those heavenly stairs!
Could you help me to win this race no matter what?”
He humbly got up from his crouched position
And headed to the race track starting line
“Runners! …Take your marks”….(BANG!)
Then all of a sudden they were running around the track
Ole Joe got a slow start, but never looked back
He knew God would help him claim the grand prize
He ran and he ran until his tail began dragging
Then five minutes later his tongue began wagging
Side to side
Now Pete, concerned that his opponent had dropped
Out of the race began to turn his turtle shell around
He began to scout out his opponent upon the tracks
Five miles back he found ole Joe
He stopped to offer him a word of wisdom
He said, “ Races are much easier when they are run with friends!”
Then Pete towed ole Joe to the finish line
The moral of this story is very easy
When you are a turtle get on your turtle kneesies
Bring all your prayers to the throne of God
And He will give you friends to run the race of life with
