The Truth Stood Downcast in the Lie (Quatern for Poetry soup Contest) By Franklin Price 8/3/2016 The truth stood downcast in the lie Could not quite fathom reason why Rolled off the tongue as if was true Believed was right what else to do? I hung my head began to cry The truth stood downcast in the lie Wish I could take those words back in Do not know how I would begin Meant nothing by that little white Knew I could never make it right The truth stood downcast in the lie I'm so embarrassed I could die Was my mistake I take the blame Admit I did it give my name It will be okay bye and bye The truth stood downcast in the lie
