The Tree of Life

Beneath a bright, blue sky Where green fields glow Stands a skeletal tree Raising its bare branches Imploringly to the heavens Like Death demanding life. At its lifeless heart inlaid A wooden crucifix Whereon our suffering saviour With arms outstretched Gave up his life To save our souls. High atop the tree Calmly stood two storks In their sturdy,twig-built nest Loftily serene Disdainfully disregarding Those below with arms akimbo to make them fly. In that trinity A sacramental moment Eternally enshrined.
