The Traveler
Just travelling on
And still travelling on
Wherever I go
Life meets me there
With sorrow and happiness
And I cannot know
Which is better than the other.
The journey is bleak and bright
There are tears and there is laughter,
But I cannot choose one over the other
Having an option could be disastrous.
I have learnt to read the stars
And travel along as they go
As they go on,
But I wonder if they are watching me.
I keep travelling,
From one settlement to another
I keep travelling
From one experience to another.
I never know if the life changes are temporary or permanent
But it may never really matter
Where the paths are crooked and straight
And straight and crooked again
Where the paths are elevated and depressed
And depressed and elevated again,
Studying the stars
Never know if they are studying me.
The place I am today determines
The place I may be tomorrow,
But tomorrow and today
Are as unreal as a
Broad continuous surface water
On a significantly arid land.
I keep travelling as we do
One settlement to another settlement,
Endless journey- endless time,
The solace is in the travelling.
