The Time After Sleep
At midnight
The moon floats above
Dancing through a field of twinkling stars
The world below sleeps
Tossing and turning
Thinking about the next day
Waiting for a single beam of sun
Bird’s songs welcome the day
The ringing of an antique clock
Shocks the system
The heart beats a little faster
As the day begins
Rushing to meetings
Stressful living
With no relaxation
The heart strains
The mind works
The head aches
Fantasies wander ahead
To a moon dancing among the stars
Searching for the moment when the day ends
And sleep can once again be found
