The Tiger's Eyes
The Tiger's Eyes
My handicap is not a loss of limb,
nor an eye, nor any other
physical aspect of my body.
It is my mind.
A cruel warden who holds me prisoner
behind bars of regret, disappointment, and loss.
I pace to and fro, like the caged tiger...
longing for freedom.
I peer hopelessly for a way of escape
through spaces between the bars.
The spaces where dreams grew and wishes lived;
And, where belief watered the heart with magic.
I see the tiger's eyes in my reflection.
Back...and...forth.
To...and...fro.
We two are one...handicapped by prison bars...
on the same journey.
