The Thief

The thief that takes men from their homes And leaves them on the street. Their pockets parched and hungry now, With nothing more to eat. The thief that steals the hearts they hold And throws them to their beds. With sick and rasping breath they know In graves they’ll lay their heads. And yet, another world away Where ignorance has reign, Their tables are replete with food, Full stomachs, none complain.
