The Thaw

THE THAW The bear awakens from its long slumber. Stretches and shakes it's head. Ready to venture out in the brand new world. New life ever so present. Buds forming on the tree branches, Fresh dew on the grass, Morning sunlight breaking through the clouds, The birds announcing the arrival of a brand new day. Being awaken out of dreams. Questioning, wondering what they mean. Some with great detail, others very vague. Remembering some for long moments, Others quickly slipping away. Once the day has begun, A new awareness has sprung; Whether it's the clenching of jaw, Tingling of hands, Tightness in chest Or ache in belly, Shortness of breath; These things don't go unnoticed. Sometimes it's the tears that form in the eyes, The moistness discretely running off to the side. Sometimes it's the hard swallow As you attempt to keep everything inside. But you are becoming ever so aware Of these things; The stirrings inside. You are becoming alive Like the bear that wakes. (A bear can be scary. Let it wake slowly, Gently. Go slow. Be gentle w
