By what magic did the carver use? Did he shave and chisel you from wax? Did he chop and hammer you from wood? You with your never ending rein you stand calm and serene your bountiful face brilliant yellow with scalloped petals and clustered seeds. You who greet the mornings and pray to the night your mighty stock a deep-green with downy that hugs away the cold what was used to bring you to life?
