The Sun
If I were a Star, then you would be the Sun.
Bright, brilliant, resilient, you are a beacon of light
And all bask in your radiant glow.
Although I am a Star, and I share my own light,
None shine brighter than you.
Others orbit around you and are held in by your gravitational pull.
So I have grown jealous, even though I still worship your might.
There are millions, billions, of me
And only one of you, the Sun.
How I wish I could bow down to you like the others
How I wish I could admire your beauty and wisdom
Instead of hiding in the growing shadow of resentment.
But then I realized: the Sun is also a Star.
It gives me hope that I too will someday have my own solar system.
Maybe I too, can be the Sun.
