The Storm

The thunder rumbles breaking the silence, as the lightning flashes splitting the darkness. I stand all alone in the open meadow, feeling ever so calm in the midst of the storm. As the tempest rages every way that I turn, the cool summer rain cleanses me to the core. Hours pass me by yet feels like eternity, then just as soon as it began, its all over. The rain stops falling and the sky starts to clear, and reveals to my eyes the light of the dawn. As the sun struggles to rise o'er the mountains, the distant peals of thunder are all that remain. Theres a coolness in the air and everything is like new, now that the storm has past a new day can finally begin.

There is reward sometimes in resignation? Yes? Just let things happen seems to be shadowed here. Whatever. I like your poem. It makes me think around. Congrats on the selection. Dave

This is lovely, Martha. The imagery reminds me of my own poem The Dance of the Storm. Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
