You ask me what I see How can I tell you the sky is red Large strokes of blood color the sea Collide with a firm horizon You ask me what I hear How can I explain what I hear is what I see, swirls in myriad colors and music dance before me You look in wonder and ask me if I speak in tongues or metaphors. I don't, this is what it is. Sound dances, colors are heard The sky is red, your voice hesitates between yellow and blue, your mood orchestrates its color. Your questions uncertain dark in my confusion. *** July 20, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

Very deep and thoughtful poem, Darren. Seven is God's number for perfection. The sound of perfection suits this poem's aspirations just right. Lovely thinking person's poem. Love and joy always.

Your title echoes Francis Thompson. So does your imagery. A nice composition, Darren. Keep it up! Ram

Beautiful. It had me thinking of songs and colors and then the old mood rings that changed colors based on emotions.

This is wonderful, my friend ... very expressive and visual. I have something called synesthesia, and I see music, math, letters sometimes, as color, and this poem brought a bit of insight to that, (at least for me). I have perfect and relative pitch as well, and unfortunately both things have been more of a curse than a blessing, (both related to my OCD). It's not that way for everyone, thankfully, just "oddballs" like me, lol. ;-) LOVED this one!

Good Afternoon Darren. I logged in for a few moments before getting the day started. Allow me to say. You ask me what I see, I see poetry. You ask me what I hear I hear poetic expressions that touch the heart and soul. You may utilize the color red for confusion. I see it with emotion that fills this entry. You do The Mighty Free Verse proud. Excellent in every poetic way. Have a wonderful afternoon.
