Thank you again to the uber-talented Jeannie Minor. Occasionally in life we meet someone and make an instant connection. Although, we've never met face to face we made a connection with poetry and it has worked out very well. She is a very special person. It is always a pleasure to work with her. If you have never read her poems, you have done yourself a great disservice.
She's playing the lead
On the stage of her life
The role of a wife and mother
A rehearsed performance
Over the years
With lost feelings in the scenes with her lover
When the play first opened
Still learning her part
The acting, exciting and loud
She saw bright flashing lights
A marquee rising star
Performing for a make believe crowd
All of those years
With the same lines and scenes
She's lost that fire and zest
But night after night
In the final act
That's when her acting is best
It's all in the way
She says her good nights
Wishing the word was goodbye
Honestly meaning
Each one from the last
Bringing a tear to her eye
Carefully crafting
The use of her words
To tenor the message she's sending
The voids became bigger
And harder to fill
Her desperate attempts of an ending
Used as a lover
She thinks of another
Feeding her hunger for hope
Still longing to feel
All of life's zest and zeal
Through fantasy she learned to cope.
With each passing day
She's gathering courage
To build a brave new life, upon
But age has a way
To wick courage away
As they say...
"The show must go on!"
