The Ship

The ship was sailing on a sea of glass. The winds were calm as the troller passed. The sun reflected off the water like a fiery flame as it climbed the sky and presented the day.The dolphins leapt and the whales sang their songs as the land disappeared and the clouds they grew long. In the wake of the ship there was bubbling foam as the engines let out a low rumbling drone. The sailors they watched as the sky turned to grey and the wind gathered strength and heightened the waves. The lightening it flashed and the rain came down hard as the men closed the hatches and stood on their guard. The ship it was lifted high in the air then slammed on the waves bringing fear and despair. The storm raged for hours with no end in sight and the crew they were sickened as they braced for the night. The Captain he let out his calls of distress hoping for rescue with little success. All other ships they were miles away and could offer no rescue until the next day. The ship it was beaten as it was forced toward the shore and smashed on the rocks until it was torn. The men scrambled for rafts, to escape from the wreck and the waves showed no mercy care or respect. When the sunlight came streaming into the sky and the rescue ship began to draw nigh, the bodies were gathering upon the shore as the tide rolled in like all days before. Only one boat remained, five souls the sea did not claim. To their fallen brothers they honored on stone then back to the sea they found their way home.
