The Shell That Holds You
Im good at many things but I don't stand out
I plant my feet but I don't stand my ground
I open my mouth but I'm too scared to speak
I spread my wings but am afraid to leap
I am the shell of every human being
I bring depression that scolds you
anger that loathes you
and fear that holds you
I am the shell that molds you
when you're too scared to escape you live here with me
too afraid to live life
you're no longer living
you're waiting for death...
Are you scared yet?
Then leave.
I'm not the best company.
I'll hold you back. I'll bring you down.
As long as you're with me there'll be no more than a frown.
I wont make you happy.
I wont even try.
Leave while you can,
and leave me, your shell, behind.
