The Secret Garden

The Secret Garden Deep from the seeds of love planted long ago a secret garden we’ve grown but left alone the key buried in you heart no longer opens the door. (0:36) Apart we’ll live in dreams, drifting forever within the garden I’ll be, but release the flowers that they may bloom again that the garden may sing again. (1:07) Open the door and let the music flow open the door to the hills and the moors open the door let the children’s laughter ripple through the heather and heal your aching heart. (1:38) And if you no longer hear my heart calling yours know still I never stand alone for here a part of you has forever become a part of me that sows your love. (2:10) Open the door and let the music flow open the door to the hills and the moors open the door let the children’s laughter ripple through the heather and heal your aching heart. And if you no longer hear my heart calling yours know still I never stand alone for here a part of you has forever become a part of me that grows alone part of me that grows alone.

Once again I am enchanted by your talent, your ability to craft lyrics to music that seem as if the music was written for your lyrics. Absolutely beautiful Anne Marie.

Thank you for your wonderful comments Chris. When I was a kid, my dad used to listen to a lot of classical music and opera, and when we were sent to 'colonies de vacancies' (summer camps), we had to sing a lot of folk or popular songs. The lyric was pretty good, but I have a terrible memory so I would try to make up a few lines which I could remember, to sing along.

Thank you so very much for your comment Ravi, but I hope you can also access the music to which this lyric was set because it was directly inspired from it:)

If I was a flower, I would be dead, drowned in my own tears, this was so beautiful!

Thank you Arthur for giving me a good laugh, I needed that. My big brother wants me to set the lyric to 'Trumpet Rhapsody' by Maynard Ferguson next. Since there is 'Trump' in the title I hope that inspires something wickedly funny:)

This is one of the most beautiful poems I have read - poetrysoup or otherwise - because it speaks to the experience of more people than you know. A 7 and fav!

Sunlite, I am deeply touched by your comments. This song affected me very much from the minute I started listening, because it immediately reminded of Schindler's list:)

You did a good job here. I read and listened to it several times and it came alive for me. The imagery created, gave life to your words and your feelings came through strong. Emile. #7

Thank you Emile for this lovely review. I couldn't listen to this song without crying my eyes out so I actually spent some time discussing the story of the Secret Garden with my friend Kay; then, to my surprise, as I listened again, the lyric came out in one fell swoop:) Amitiés

Bonjour Tim, there were many songs in 'Songs from a Secret Garden' so I was not sure which one to pick, so I am so glad you liked this one:)
