The Sad Release

The Sad Release My mind, abandoned like last week's burnt toast longings- deepest longings for your touch. I had you once, reveling in pride I did boast sadness now- heart misses you so much. Once- blue waters graced our flowing streams back when- you so dearly loved me most. I held you once- kissed wrapped in my dreams now only memories- our true love a ghost. Fleeting thoughts- shadows in my aching pains heartaches flow- fire burnt to ashes. Tried every road, made no real romantic gains imagination flies but so soon, it crashes. Soon my last breath gifts me the greatest relief. Life means nothing if our love you have no belief. R.J. Lindley Aug. 23rd 1977
