The Role of the Messenger
Please don’t be sad if I die
I’m not the reason you’re alive
This may not be the brightest day
But please remember that through the darkest days
God still remembers the best of ways
I don’t care if you remember my name
I’m not here for fortune or fame
I just pray that at the end of the day
You’ll know that God is the only way
You say that I saved you
I’m the one that got you through
Your heart was shattered glass
Thoughts of death would never pass
I don’t care if you remember my name
I’m not here for fortune or fame
I just pray that at the end of the day
You’ll know that God is the only way
Love can bring the happiest of days
Love can bring the worst of pain
You put your faith in them
Yet still you end up broken again
Please don’t be sad if I die
I’m not the reason you’re alive
This may not be the brightest day
But please remember that through the darkest days
God still remembers the best of ways
I don’t care if you remember my name
I’m not here for fortune or fame
I just pray that at the end of the day
You’ll know that God is the only way
Happily ever after’s
Only end up in the worst of disasters
Love is so hard to believe in
Watch as it fails again
Another marriage failed before it began
You start to wonder who I am
I want to be the man you need
Because I can’t stand to watch you bleed
I don’t care if you remember my name
I’m not here for fortune or fame
I just pray that at the end of the day
You’ll know that God is the only way
I may be different
Because I swear I’m not doing this for me
I may be unique
But I want to be the one to have you see
To see what it means
To have God fulfill your dreams
I don’t care if you remember my name
I’m not here for fortune or fame
I just pray that at the end of the day
You’ll know that God is the only way
Please don’t be sad if I die
I’m not the reason you’re alive
This may not be the brightest day
But please remember that through the darkest days
God still remembers the best of ways
