The Road Less Traveled

Lost in this abyss of shadows, I walk aimlessly through the darkened path. My cry echoes into the vast emptiness, only to return to my lonesome ears. Belong here? I do not; I am just an alien trying cope, Struggling through this hellish world and all its hazardous slopes Demons swing their claws and crack their whips, trying to break my stride. Others might have fallen to their powerful claws or thunderous whips, but not I. Fighting back, bruising my knuckles, I slowly advance. I fight for every inch and battle for every foot, but I wonder, do I really have a chance? My feet become heavy, like iron shackles pinning me down, And my once unchangeable smile is nowhere to be found. Is this where my fragile soul will finally be laid to rest? Or will this old, damaged heart continue to beat in my lonesome chest? Many of moons and seasons have passed since I have appeared in this reality. Honestly, I would rather choose death than live another day in this insanity. Filth fills this world and curses the good, while evil tirelessly tries to crush it. The demons slyly speak, convincing the weak and destroying all that do not fit. When will the evil that has plagued this world be held accountable for its abominations? Will there be any one that will refuse to yield to the whispering liars and their temptations? Has all good been morphed and mangled to fit the evil mobs sense of good? Or has the righteous grown silent, scared to speak what they know they should? If this is true, then I have seen something worth my heartfelt tears of my deepest of sorrows. Because I am certain, that the sun on the horizon can only bring more evil tomorrows. So I will try my best to be the voice of good, against all odds I will hold my ground. I don’t know if my life will change anything in this failing world, but I cannot sit still and watch it drown. So I will face the struggles and brush off all of the dirt thrown to insult, I will charge the walls of the evil kingdom and lead my final assault. But if nothing else, let my life serve as a beacon of hope, proving that good will never go mute. And I will proudly stand for what is right, for what’s good, and for the original, honest truth.
