This poem was inspired by a student. It is also called "A Poem For Mia."

As I look up into the vast darkness gazing at the celestial masterpiece adorning the clear night sky, my eyes scan the heavenly bodies in search of not the well known, but for the one yet to become. The quaint unassuming star hidden in a forest of brilliance unknowingly unique by design, unaware of its own potential, and uncertain of its own place in the divine scheme of light. Only the discerning eye can see this spectacle of light waiting to be. The captivating glimmer of promise from afar of an unknown rising star. "Twinkle, twinkle, little star," wonder not what you are, but all you dream to be.

I could win contests and awards everyday, but to me there is no greater honor than to have another poet/writer quote a line I have written. I love your comment and I thank you Tim.

Wow, Kim.... poems like this inspire me in every way. I think. I like the title ,"A poem For Mia" only because I know how much this poem means to you. How amazing, one can never hide behind shade that long.... when one is meant to shine, ain't no stopping a dreamers dream, from coming true.... MF, Kim... I will make a full return in, July.... hope to see more from you soon....luv...Linda

Thank You! This could have just as easily came from a teacher that cared, so I understand the obvious mistake here. However, I am actually this exceptionally bright students bus driver. I am one of those support employees school systems throw away when they are done with them and I may not be far from that day myself.

wow, I like how you reworked the little nursery rhyme at the bottom of the poem and that is so special how you wrote it inspired by Mia. Lovely.

Thank You Andrea. It is nice to see you again. I had the idea to use that nursery rhyme early on, but I too was surprised of how well it turned out. In my own humble opinion it all turned on how well I developed the line after the old nursery rhyme line because it sets up the final line.

This is such a lovely poem! The three final lines are words of wisdom to the 'rising star' (Mia?) // paul

Nice to see you again and I always love your comments. This was Inspired by a student I transport to school. Though not shown here it is subtitled "A Poem For Mia." I once called her a rising star and this poem is the culmination of my exploration of that thought. Thank You!
