The Rich Young Ruler

The Rich Young Ruler A Rich Young Ruler came, To see the Lord one day; "What must I do"? He asked Him. So he would be okay. "What must I do to inherit? Eternal life you see. I’ve always been a good boy, The people look at me". “Keep the Ten Commandments” “I do, and that’s the truth; I keep the Ten Commandments And I’ve kept them from my youth” Then the Master noted, “One thing still lackest thee” Sell all your fancy riches, Take your cross and follow me.” The Rich man left the Master, His heart was filled with strife, He’d rather all his riches Than to gain eternal life. But here we see a blueprint, Instructions if you will? It was truth the day he spoke it And surely it is still. If we follow Jesus; He will cover any loss. But first we have to follow Him And take up His own dear Cross.

This is beautifully done. Kudos on a wonderful poem with a timely message for the obscenely rich 'rulers' of today. Were they merely to 'tithe' their income, so many of the world's pressing problems --hunger, disease, freshwater shortages, etc.-- could be solved or ameliorated... ~ Gershon
