The Return
You left without warning
My heart left yearning
It hurts to see you now, today
I'm left speechless, nothing to say
But my mind is racing with thoughts
Thoughts of you and I, how I fought
Old memories start flowing back
I hope that, now, we're better than that
You look different, but the same
I hope you've erased my face, my name
I want to start over, anew
I want to begin again, with you
Others want you, like the past
But I have a chance, at last
A chance to try again, fresh
To erase my actions, my mess
Your eyes read change, maturity
Mine read pain and purity
I hope you remember how I felt
I hope you remember what you made me endure
A chance with you, I know I've earned
I've been working, 'cause I knew that you'd return.
