The Reason For Our Freedom

"The reason for our freedom" The men and women in green locked at the knees standing still and straight as a tree with their elbows curved, saluting Ole glory. Our red, white, and blue, America's stars and stripes. The pride of me and you. They wait patently for their next deployment, watching our borders, protecting us from the evil that wants to take the freedom of the American people. America's finest the shark protecting our water, the eagle protecting our sky's. With mud on their boots, gun in hand with black under their eyes. The mighty bear tough and fast that protects the ground and whips some ass. These are the men and woman that are ready to fight for you and me. The ultimate sacrifice, their life. These are our angels that protect us in the night. The men and women we need to thank for our freedom. The right to speak, the right to pray, the blessings we take for granite everyday. Rowdy, I totally agree with the sentiments expressed in your poem. I just finished reading a book by Marilyn Estes Quigley, "The Battle of the Bulge." It should be required reading for every high school student in the world. It clearly depicts the cost of our freedom.
