The Rainbow
Green and yellow and red
(or purple or black
when it is really bad)
on my television weather radar
indicate that yet more rain
and inclement weather,
dark skies,
my matching melancholy mood,
and a total lack of motivation
will be arriving soon
The depths of depression
aren’t color-coded
like the intensity of storms,
although I believe they should be,
given that they are directly related,
for me at least,
but it’s not really necessary;
the televised rainbow suffices.
My apologies to D.H. Lawrence.
I promise a more sunny poem for tomorrow... Jack
