The Rain That Never Came

Living in the dark without a spark, Forbidden dreams on a painful arc, Waiting for the light, for the moon's rising, As I wish to fade with the winds- on these nights, I'm waiting on the unknown- from beyond, Waiting for the rain that will never come. You have smiled awe-inspiringly, Smiled your way into my heart, Dreams we had of beautiful days to come, Though life seemed beautiful, As we floated upon earth as untouchables, We forgot to prepare for the unthinkable, As the waves of life came- and knocked us apart. Within the nights were a lot of sobbing, Painted lines on the face from fallen tears, On my life, I have never left you, But became I am, a brave soul, Who submitted itself to loose, For your glory, for your love- for the sake of your happiness, Yet still here I am holding on, Waiting for the rain that will never come. Often they said to me- to incite me, Diamonds are forever- for the deserved, Hence I believe if you were truly mine, You will indeed come to sure rescue me, As I stand in the middle of a jungle, In the rain forest, midst cunning flowers, Waiting for the unknown from beyond, Waiting for the rain that will never come.

You take the essence of hurt distilled from countless tear drops and paint your words with this potent brew of emotions. This poet recalls the pain of broken dreams with regret and bitterness wrapped in a blanket of self- awareness. You paint a picture with words that bring your memories alive in the reader's mind, and we too can appreciate your world filled with loneliness and longing. Emilee. #7
