Curtal Sonnet
A curtal Sonnet has eleven lines with a rhyme scheme of abc abc dcb dc
It has ten syllables in lines 1 through 5 and 7 through 10, however
it has only two (2) syllables in lines 6 and 11, and they rhyme with lines 3, and 9.

Throughout history, Man's feared the unknown, all beyond the horizon was taboo. And yet, curiosity led the way past village walls, into that phantom zone, "where there be dragons," waiting to eat you, maps say. Found at the precipice of the unknown; fear tries to take fleeting moments away. But life's not a line; you're not in a queue, new possibilities are widely sown each day.

The unknown has always baffled man and he has always kept a distance from it. But some probe into the unknown and have come up with wonderful discoveries as they know that there are unlimited possibilities in everything. Profound thoughts.

This is an outstanding piece, Emile, which should rise to the very top in Edward's contest. I always marvel at your lines, like "But life's not a line, you're not in a queue,"! Well into "Navigating the Backwaters of My Mind," now.
