The Precious Gift of Love

The Precious Gift of Love By Rick Rucker Showered with Gifts, from Above, Most appreciated, the precious gift of Love, I thought, with Love, I was through, Believing that I would never find another, True, An unlikely twist of Fate, Has sent, to me, my Soulmate! We both had lost a love that passed, Each believing it was our last! Not wanting to spend my life Alone, Without a lover to even talk to, on the phone, In desperation, I decided to try, An online dating service, I won’t lie, I had heard every scary story, The hazards of online dating, very gory! After several lackluster dates, I railed loudly against The Fates! Why couldn’t I find my Perfect Mate, The chances of it happening were not great! Suddenly, one Sunday morning, My whole life changed, without warning! She and I had set a date, We would sit, and eat, don’t be late, I walked into the restaurant, Trying to look nonchalant, I quickly scanned the people waiting there, The only single person, had alabaster skin, and russet hair, I wanted to turn, and run, She was my date, the Beautiful One! She was too beautiful to be seen with me, A couple we would never be! Still, I owed her a meal, My nervousness I could not conceal, She was a pure delight, And I tried to do everything right, Finally, the date was done, She drove away, but my anguish had just begun! Should I call her soon, or wait? Would I have enough guts to tempt Fate? I called her, and she said she would love, To have another date, thank Heaven Above! We are now planning for when, I will be the Luckiest of Men, To spend the remainder of my Life, With the World’s Most Perfect Wife!
