The Portrait

Whosoever gazes upon this sullen sage Of mine: hearken unto my barren voice Remember that life's like a voyage In a sailing vessel anchored to sordid vice Whose diurnal preferences are inconsistent Continually changing like the climes Whose Master demands not daily rent Rather desires strict obedience for dimes He courts all who diligently seek Him They that undaunted follow His precepts While sailing through life's besetting brim He bids welcome to dine with His saintly guests He who will forget not the dying flower 'Tis upon him, He will blessings shower
