This is extra loosely related to a way that (back in the 90's) they taught about how fast and how easy AIDS was spread. However I think that this is not limited to a way AIDS is spread it can go for addictiion of any substance, or in some cases to a technology screen.

Pass that celebratory glass around Cheers, to you don’t drown. Lift your spirits, join the fun Pass the glass along to the next one. Don’t check the glass or ask what’s inside Just accept the glass as part of the ride. Spread your wings and you will find The fun that’s had with the drink time. Pass that celebratory glass around again People are leaving, but just begins. At home you will be okay. You were here having fun today. You might have heard about the drink It has been around forever did you think There are poison dangers hidden in its juice. You chose celebration over truth.

In the modern world, the situation is considerably more dire. I see folks sleeping outside. The incentive can be found anywhere, but the associated costs are almost never made clear. We are grateful that you chose to convey the message to us through the medium of poetry, my friend.

Sometimes we like an ostrich hear and see the ill effect all around with our choices and choose ignorance or fun in the name of going along with what everyone else is doing.

I believe we're all prone to addiction in one form or another Miranda, sometimes temptation is hard to resist.

I love reality poetry. It gives people a lesson AND the warners lines to quote. But in todays world it's much worse. I see people sleeping outside.

I agree, Miranda. Once a person gives up their personal responsibility and follow the easiest path, or path of least resistance, there doesn't seem to be anyway to stop the tragic behavior that follows. Thanks the the thoughtful responce my friend. Bill

I am sure if the cost of the addiction was not hidden in the least we would still have addiction problems, although hopefully less so. I could be wrong with that line of thought though.

I don't know about popularity. My favourite drink is at noon and dark wine, with 14% strong alcohol. And it costs money.

At the age of 46 I can count on one hand the number of times in my life I 've had alcohol, shy NyQuil. At the age of 44y husband can count the number of times he has alcohol on his fist. Yes I said FIST. Again like me that is shy NyQuil.
