The Perilous Journey
Dark is the place where life begins.
A raging river, a perilous swim.
You cling to the bank with all your might
and soon make a connection that lessens your plight.
This lifeline supplies all of your needs,
the food to nourish you and oxygen to breathe.
Larger and stronger you continue to grow,
until your body blocks the rivers flow.
Your heartbeat pounds and your mind starts to ponder;
will I ever escape to a place far beyond here?
Soon do you struggle and try to break free
and move towards the light and to your destiny.
Freedom comes not as your life is taken away.
Your journey has ended and you had no say.
Behold the Lord as he holds out his hands
and pulls you to his bosom in heaven so grand.
The perilous journey has brought you to him.
Now a journey of love can finally begin.
Years later, the future you see
the fate of the vessel who set your soul free.
The vessel will bow before the judge of mankind.
Her head hung low she will know well her crime.
Lord I am sorry for the things I have done.
I just was not ready to take on a son.
Please forgive me for my blood you have bought.
Child be silent for I know you not.
Look down below at the gates of hell
for there you shall enter forever to dwell.
