The Parting
In His own image I was created
From his ribs I was created
You delighted in this creature that He created
And this creature that He created
You named woman
For He saw that a helper You needed
You were alone and lonely indeed
She was a beautiful creature indeed
A companion you knew not that you needed
Your woman
For what I was created is long forgotten
Of that am frequently being reminded
Your delight in me is long buried
After all, did you not get what you wanted?
Your woman
A home for you I've created
Your children I've birthed
Through the long labour pains I endured
And in your offspring I delighted
Was proud to be your woman
Through thick and thin by you I stuck
Your dreams I believed in
Encouraging and supporting you all through
A safe haven for you I was
For I was your woman
Why then in your peak have you abandoned me?
Yet I supported you all through
That am no longer beautiful you say
Now that another one to replace me you have found
Your woman am no more
Long nights for you I've cried
For the lost twilight years with you now lost
A dead horse I will flog no more
You, my beloved to me is no more
For your woman am no more
