The Other Brain
You want to know the answer, all you have to do is ask
It will give you instructions, and guidance for every task
Where is the nearest café, or closest place to shop?
It can take over every action, and it will never stop.
It’s like having a second brain every moment of the day
To do your thinking for you in a controlling sort of way
There’s no problem it can’t solve, or purchase it can’t make
With a touch of the screen, it’s alive for Heaven’s sake!
It locks you house, and tells you who’s ringing at your door
It tracks you kids and packages, who could ask for any more
It communicates with the world with a single text
To let others know if you’re happy, or maybe vexed.
We’ve let this little device take over for our brain
With very little effort normal function’s down the drain
Those little grey cells used to have a life of their own
Now your phone does the thinking, they feel so all alone!
So, turn it off, put it down, let your other brain kick in
Look at someone eye to eye, let normal dialogue begin!
And if I ask for an answer, or what you want to do…
Will I get an instant reply, or a vacant stare from you?
