The Opal Is a Very Special Gem

Every color of the rainbow is so artistically arrayed, In each magnificent opal so brilliantly displayed! Each stone is unique in its varied and colorful design, And I have two very special reasons why it is a favorite of mine. My only sister was named Opal who to me was very dear. Though she now resides in Paradise, for her I yet shed a tear. And since I was spawned in October, the opal is my birthstone. Oh, Lordy! I'm reminded I'll soon reach that eighty-sixth milestone! It is indeed a special stone Robert. I never knew of the deep rainbow turquoise color of this gem until I began flying to Sydney. I thought they were all that milky iridescent white that is so common to see. I still want to get a real dark colored opal one day, but they are a bit too pricey for me still.
