The Only Star For Me
I gazed into the heavens
in search of one that’s right
to catch my eyes in promise
of granting dreams that night.
In Texas t’was the north star
that beckoned me to speak
of wishes nestled in the heart,
the universe to seek.
But from my porch the brightest
star that shines in western sky,
constant as the morning sun,
caught my attention from on high.
I sat and watched its twinkling grace,
its promises to see.
my diamond light of dreams desired,
the only star for me.
This is the one I’ve wished upon
so often in the night,
and in my soul, I truly hope,
it's not a satellite.
