The New Year
The old year has passed us by
The new year’s only just begun
Life gave us many changes
And new songs to be sung
We’ve cried in sorrow’s loss
Grieving from within our heart
Rejoicing in Heaven’s gain
As we dare to question not
Newest unions have been bound
Hearts entwined in love
Welcomed wee ones in our midst
Purest treasures from above
Fought battles in the home
And on the fields of trade
Among our friends and our foes
Losses to our victory fade
All regrets return to hope
Not hiding within our fear
Truth and prosper gain in strength
As we enter this new year.
