The New Christmas Tree

The tree in the corner shimmered with tinsel A tradition I remember from Christmases past, With bright colored bulbs and glittery roping We filled the stand with water to make it last. This year it was replaced by aluminum fronds And twinkling lights pre-installed at the store, No water required, it will last forever and ever An improvement, eh? I say “Nay, what a bore!”

"We filled the stand with water to make it last." - I had forgotten this, so thank you for the memory Hank!

Yep, our holders always had to hold water.

The natural ones are certainly the best Milton, those artificial ones look so cheap, probably made in China. Tom

I don't care for them at all. If you don't want a "real" Christmas tree, why bother?

I've always thought of those aluminum fronds as something I'd never want in my house. Evergreens scent the room. Ya can't get that from aluminum.

So true, Jenna. Frankly, I'd rather not have a tree at all than one of those silver monstrosities.
