The Nacirema
The Nacirema are a proud people many know.
They live in great numbers from Canada to Mexico.
This group has strived to maintain freedom and liberty.
However, it seems someone obscured their identity.
Outsiders now have a stronghold on their economy.
Jobs are now scarce, and many of them live in poverty.
Their land now appears as one great big reservation.
At one time, they were considered a powerful nation.
Their future lives may soon be filled with consternation.
Do you know this people’s identity?
It isn’t really much of a mystery.
Just spell “nacirema” backwards in order to see.
