The Mountain Top

"I'm on the mountain top, he bragged, A mountain top, you see, A place where I am in control, A place I want to be." He looked around, far down below, And saw a modest crowd, But he would never join them there, For he was much too proud. But on the mountain top, you see, Was rock and barren cliff, And jagged thorns and cloud and hail, And wind, so very stiff. Yet on the mountain top, he thought, Was better than below, For that was what his friends had said, But little did they know. For in the valley was a spring, Where quiet waters lay, And next to that were pastures green, Where people heard God say, "Come here and lay your burdens down, And I will give you rest, When life is hard inside this vale, I'll help you pass the test." Yes, on the mountain top may seem, A place where vict'ry reigns, But in the valley with the Lord, Will our salvation gain.

Pride comes before a fall so the saying goes. I'll be happy to be down in that valley, listening to the quiet waters and being close to God. David this is a seven : )
