The Mountain Path
Ascending into heaven I walk the mountain path
glorious green pine trees shade my walk
as wild flowers wave in gentle breezes
Each step I see a world of colors
and hear the voice of nature
From the cooing of lovebirds
to the babble of a clear stream
I sense the silent stare of deer
and feel the presence of a small red fox
By the flowering of tree blossoms
from the palette of fall foliage
Each step as close to heaven as earth can be
Midway I sit and see an ancient temple
it's rooftop crowned with dragon scales
Further up I see the rice fields
carved as steps on the sister mountain's side
Rain overflows from top to bottom
nourishing the seed to life
And finally I step up top the mountain
to view the golden fields of grain
and sleepy farming villages
where people and livestock appear as ants
I listen to the hawk soar above
and feel as though I to can fly
Where is goodness in a world gone mad
down the mountain path I ponder
reflecting on the memories of you
The sweetness of walking here with my love
your voice echoes in my memories
your smile etched in my heart
your laughter sings in the breeze
I walk across a crystal stream
on green stones of jade
Stepping out of the mountain path
onto the valley road
In my shirt pocket
a mixture of vibrant flowers
I walk up to your door
and knock
You open and smile
I ask
Will you join me on a walk
up the mountain path
