The Morning Dawn
The light of dawn comes peeking in
dancing it's fingers on my skin
Waking up the sleeping head
saying it's time to get out of bed
If dawn is up you should be too
start the day there's much to do
But doesn't dawn know it's way too soon
to have chased away the evening moon
Six hours sleep and still more to go
but dawn is up saying no, no, no
Rolling over to shut early dawn out
but dawn's still there giving a shout
Doesn't give up and let's you know
you'd better get up and don't be slow
Let the dawn in through the window pane
it's warmth and light waking the brain
Drawing you out of your sleeping state
to be woken like this you really hate
But now that your up and dawn's done its thing
dawn lays at your feet, the day it did bring
