The Morning After

We saw that you lay in your bed and quietly we all slipped away. In fact, you had buried your head, not wishing to welcome the day. We noticed you tossing in bed, not daring to open your eyes; aware that the daylight ahead would come as a nasty surprise. We heard as you rushed from your bed and fled to the bathroom in flight. You peered at the glass with some dread; the face looking back was a fright. We hoped you would soon leave your bed all blessed with a happy release. But knowing you’d rather be dead, we left you to suffer - in peace. ~
