The Man Inside
Some decisions are not hard
Because there's no knowledge
Of what's right or wrong,
But because of the struggle
Of a free and selfish will.
This will can offer up
Sacrifices to the body,
Or render obedience
To the inner man.
The offerings of lusts
Feed the "want to"
Of the body.
It fights the man inside.
Holy renderings
Yield to God's Spirit.
He fights against the flesh.
Whoever wins depends on
Who the decision maker
Gives his will over to.
The body must be crucified,
And its deeds must be killed-
Else the spirit will die,
And the body will live.
For if the flesh is cultivated
Death and destruction grow;
But when the spirit is nourished
Everlasting life is present.
