The Man I Am
The Man I Am
I can hold a job
I can hold the line
I can carry the weight with my stomach twisted into knots
I can play a song
I can write a poem
But I can't give you what you need with only what I've got
I can plant a seed
I can sew a crop
I can plow and weed weathering rain and sun and snow
I can light a fire
One that never stops
Just never seems to be quite enough for you though
I can read the writing
I can wield the pen
I can bear witness that sometimes love is a swear
I can't be for certain
But I can tell you this
When I am here, the man that I am isn't there
