The Man Eater

Tongues twist, words roll; Friends and family wonder; What it is,that has eaten me up! I'll not tell them anything, I'll let them think and think- Till they feel they have the answer. Whatever is consuming my flesh, Hasn't reached my soul, They don't have to worry. This, that feasts on my blood, Hasn't gotten to my bone marrow, I'm still meeting new days. But,reality is; When I look at my image in the mirror, It doesn't represent who I am. That reflection is of, A young girl, short and slender; And tending to severe acute malnutrition,SAM. I'm also surprised, But atleast, I know what's wrong with me; The man eater is eating me up. It comes with friends, school, family. It comes with broken relationships. It comes with failed missions. It comes with sickness, loans and betrayal. It comes with so much, That you and I have tasted. The man eater is killing me, The same way it left the city with heads hanging in the air, Bodies lying still in the mogue, following suicide. It sent most of its preys to mental health units, When it deprived them of sleep and brought them addictions; When it got them depressed and hallucinated. To cut it short,it's eating me up, Like you can see; But it's you to save me. Much as you tell me to open up, You do so with an ear, eager to gather news, To spread out to the entire community. It is stress, That haunts my hurt heart; And tears me apart.
